Steelers DT Cam Heyward May Have Suffered Setback

The Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle has taken steps backward in his return from a groin injury.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers shared some bad news by way of their daily practice report this week, with just a couple of days to go before they return to the field against the Green Bay Packers.

Among the four Steelers not to participate in the second-to-last practice of the week was veteran defensive lineman Cam Heyward. After being limited the day before, Heyward sat out all of Day 2’s practice.

Heyward is fresh off a groin injury that he suffered in the Steelers’ Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at home. He practiced for the first time prior to a Week 8 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars and finally returned to game action the following week as the Steelers beat the Tennessee Titans, 20-14 at Acrisure Stadium. Heyward was in on six total tackles, including one for a loss against the Titans.

The injury specifies that Heyward is still dealing with an injury to his groin. He could have suffered a setback in practice this week or the team could be holding him out as a precaution. Either way, it’s something to monitor through the end of this week and up until kickoff against the Packers.
