Elsewhere, Bayern Munich full-back Benjamin Pavard is also linked with a Merseyside move. The Frenchman has enjoyed four stellar years at the Bavarian outfit but has reportedly told Munich chiefs he wants out.

Veiga speaks out on Celta future
Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga has addressed speculation over his future at his boyhood club.
Liverpool have emerged as a potential destination for the 21-year-old in recent weeks, with a recent report suggesting Klopp’s side are ‘firm favourites’ to win the race for Veiga ahead of Newcastle United.
Currently preparing to represent Spain in the U21s Euros, the youngster was asked to clarify his future and told SPORT: “It was a spectacular season, what I did is a dream, and in the club of my life, and I’m happy about it. Right now I don’t think about the future, the present is the national team, the only thing I can say is that I go through the European Championship and then win it.”
Championship side Preston North End are hoping to take teenage Liverpool right-back Calvin Ramsay on loan next season.
Ramsay has suffered an injury-hit debut campaign after joining last summer from Scottish Premiership outfit Aberdeen in an initial £4million deal.
The 19-year-old was first sidelined for several months to address a serious back injury that was revealed during his medical, before making his senior debut in November as a late substitute in the Champions League group win over Napoli.
He made his first start – and thus far only other appearance – for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the League Cup fourth round win over Derby County the following week, but hasn’t featured at any level since January after his season was ended early by surgery on a knee problem.
Oxlade-Chamberlain next club
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly closing in a move to a new Premier League club as his Liverpool contract comes to an end.
It was confirmed last month the 29-year-old would be leaving the Reds this summer upon the expiration of his current deal, along with James Milner and Naby Keita. Making a strong impact during his first season with the club in 2017/18, repeated injury setbacks prevented Oxlade-Chamberlain from becoming a key player for Jurgen Klopp.
The next step for Milner and Keita has already become clear, the former set to join Brighton and the latter signing for Werder Bremen, and it now seems Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the verge of finding himself a new club.
After striking a deal to sign another free agent in the form of Youri Tielemans, Aston Villa are said to have their eyes on Oxlade-Chamberlain. That is according to talkSPORT, who state the Champions League winner has ‘held talks’ with Unai Emery’s side.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, but are only willing to pay half of the Saints’ £50million asking price.
Recently relegated with the south coast club, Ward-Prowse is one of the standout players in the Southampton squad expected to move on this summer as they prepare for life in the second tier.
A report by the Daily Mail has stated the Reds are ‘willing to play the waiting game’ over the 28-year-old, who is under contract until 2026.
The report adds Liverpool ‘would be tempted’ to sign Ward-Prowse at £25m, though are set to face competition from Newcastle and West Ham.
Ward-Prowse does not have a relegation clause in his contract.
