Tottenham players already know’: Pundit fires shots at Daniel Levy after what he’s hearing
‘Stewart Robson fired shots at Daniel Levy for seemingly setting the precedent of Tottenham Hotspur becoming a ‘selling club’ after hearing Harry Kane’s comments.
The recently-departed Tottenham striker stated the difference in pressures at the Premier League club and what he is now facing at Bayern Munich – the England captain feels as though he needs to win every game in Bavaria, but that wasn’t the case at Hotspur Way, as he told Sky Sports.
But, former Arsenal player Robson stated that ‘the Tottenham players already knew’ that major difference because Daniel Levy ‘keeps selling players’, which doesn’t allow the London club to win the trophies, whilst Bayern Munich ‘buy the best players’ to ‘dominate in the league and in Europe’, as he told ESPN.
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone because, since the turn of the century, Spurs have only managed to win one trophy and challenge for the Premier League title on one occasion.
This is despite Harry Kane, led by Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout, setting such a platform for the team, including helping them reach the European Cup final.
But that’s where some level the criticism at Levy because they think he didn’t push the boat out enough to help Spurs get over that line and become a trophy-winning force.
“I think the Spurs players know it already, don’t they?” said Robson. “Spurs is a club over the years that has proved that it’s a selling club than a buying club.
“If you keep selling players, like Daniel Levy has done, then you are not trying to be the best team you could possibly be.
“Bayern Munich, over the years, have always done that. They have tried to buy the best players to dominate the league and to try and dominate Europe. Spurs haven’t won anything in so long. They were close to winning the title when Leicester won it, but apart from that, they have been way off the mark.
“I am not surprised that he (Kane) said it. And I am not surprised that the players already know it.”
It’s early days yet, but the new Tottenham boss has made quite the start at Hotspur Way and it already has fans on board.
Yes, the Spurs fans are delighted that they are unbeaten after four Premier League games, but it’s probably more the fact that they are playing an attacking brand of football that has excited them.
The supporters feel it’s their club back to their old ways, now it’s just a case of building on it and trying to deliver those trophies.
