Man Utd receive Rasmus Hojlund transfer boost as Atalanta identify replacement
Atalanta have reportedly identified a replacement for Rasmus Hojlund in a major boost to Manchester United’s transfer hopes.
Erik ten Hag has already added Mason Mount and Andre Onana to his ranks this summer, but the United boss is thought to want an elite striker before the season gets underway in 20 days time.
The Red Devils had originally earmarked Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as potential targets, but the extortionate transfer fees involved has seen the club re-adjust their focus towards Hojlund.
However, it seems they must act fast if they are to land the striker, with Paris Saint-Germain also reportedly keen on signing the 20-year-old Dane.
Meanwhile, Atalanta are preparing for life without Hojlund after allegedly identifying his replacement.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta have earmarked Almeria striker El Bilal Toure as their “top target” in case Hojlund leaves this summer.
Romano tweeted: “El Bilal Touré, Atalanta’s top target this summer in case Højlund leaves. He’s top of the list, as called in June.”
Speaking on his YouTube channel earlier this week, Romano revealed that United are plotting a bid for Hojlund worth around €70 million (£60.3m).
“United are starting to prepare an opening official bid. They are discussing internally about an opening official bid for Hojlund,” the Italian said.
“They never sent any official bid. At the moment, they had some exchanges with Atalanta, through intermediaries, to understand how much they wanted. From what I’m told, it is something around €70 million.
“This is the potential fee for Rasmus Hojlund, so let’s see how the conversations between Atalanta and Manchester United go.
Romano also opened up in Hojlund’s desire to join United, stating that he is “super keen on a move”.
“From what I’m told, the player is super keen on the move,” Romano continued. “Hojlund wants to try a top club experience. He was a United fan as a kid, so Hojlund is super keen on a move to United. He is the target, number one for Manchester United right now.
