Report: Chelsea set to beat Tottenham to England youth international
The Daily Mail have claimed that Chelsea are set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to Newcastle starlet Ollie Harrison.
Harrison made 12 appearances for Newcastle’s Under-18s last season despite being just 15 years of age and the youngster’s performances allegedly caught the eye of several top-flight sides.

Tottenham were said one of those whose interest was piqued, with the likes of Wolves, Brighton and Chelsea also thought to have entered the race for the midfielder’s signature.
The report explains that Harrison is considered one of the best players of his age group in the St James’ Park academy set up and the Magpies were battling hard to hold on to him.
‘It’s a massive concern of mine’ |…
Newcastle made it clear to the England Under-16 international that they were not going to break their wage structure, which opened the door for the likes of Spurs.
Chelsea are leading the race for Ollie Harrison
However, The Mail add that it is Chelsea who have now won the race for Harrison’s signature, with the midfielder said to have agreed personal terms with the West London club.
The Blues will have to pay a compensation package to Newcastle and the youngster will make the switch to Chelsea’s Cobham training centre once the deal is approved by the Premier League.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is unfortunate that we missed out on Harrison but there is definitely an increased focus at Spurs over the last couple of transfer windows in strengthening the academy ranks with the best available young talent.
Now that we have a manager in charge who is willing to hand opportunities to youngsters, hopefully, a clearer pathway to the first team will emerge for these players over the coming seasons.
