Next week, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are due to meet their new teammates for the first time as Liverpool’s two new signings begin pre-season.

The duo’s arrival will certainly be heralded by Liverpool supporters, who have been crying out for new signings in midfield for some time after witnessing last season’s disappointment.

Those same fans will no doubt expect Mac Allister and Szoboszlai to walk straight into the side the Reds embark on their pre-season schedule, but one latecomer will no doubt have a say before anything is decided.

Curtis Jones, along with Harvey Elliott, will arrive later than the rest of the squad back to training, having been in action for England at the U21 European Championship out in Georgia and Romania, and the 22-year-old has continued the electric form he showed for the Reds during the final weeks of last season.

Whether he can continue his recent rise into the new season remains to be seen, although one person backing him to do so is Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

“Curtis Jones. He’s coming ladies and gents!” Wright said on his Ringer Podcast Show back in April.

“Like he said when the Hulk got shot down, Thanos is coming. Curtis Jones is coming…”

Wright’s prediction certainly seems to be coming true, and it does leave Klopp with something of a dilemma heading into pre-season.
