Rennes now willing to sell £66m player after
Stade Rennais are reportedly open to selling Jeremy Doku this summer, with the news coming after Liverpool were once again linked with the 21-year-old.
According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 side will not say to the idea of cashing in on the Belgian international should a convincing offer come in for Doku, with Rennes not impressed with the winger’s return of 16 goals in the last three seasons.
Jeunes Footeux reported last year that the youngster could cost as much as £66m should a club make an attempt to sign Doku. However, there’s every chance that an interested party like Liverpool will now be expected to pay a much lower fee.
As per L’Equipe, Liverpool have been interested in Doku as far back as 2017 during his time as a youth player with R.S.C. Anderlecht. And this summer could now be the window that the Anfield side finally land their man, who had been tipped to replace Sadio Mane in recent years.
Indeed, although attack might not be a problem area for Liverpool this summer, Jurgen Klopp finally securing Doku’s signature could be a tantalising prospect, and the Reds could soon launch an official bid to sign the Rennes forward if the French side are now open to a sale.

As mentioned, Liverpool’s forward-line hardly needs any additions this summer, with the Reds stacked in the attack even after the departure of Roberto Firmino. Which means any move for Doku has to be carefully considered by Klopp and his team.
The Belgian international is no doubt a talented player who prove to be an exciting long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. However, for this window, Liverpool might feel more comfortable focusing on the areas of the squad that need improvements this summer rather than a move for a long-term target in Doku.
