Harry Kane ‘reaches agreement’ on Bayern Munich transfer but major obstacle to overcome

Harry Kane has been linked with transfers away from Tottenham to Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

Five potential transfer destinations for Harry Kane

Tottenham star Harry Kane has reportedly struck an agreement with Bayern Munich to join the German giants this summer, amid interest also from Manchester United. The England captain has just one year left on his contract at Spurs, but club chief Daniel Levy has been reluctant to part ways with the 29-year-old in this window.

Levy would, however, likely prefer to sell Kane abroad if he is to let go of his most prised asset at all and German outlet Bild have claimed that an agreement in principle has been reached between Kane and Bayern – though the two clubs are yet to come to a compromise on a fee despite an initial £60million bid on Monday.

Kane’s brother and agent Charlie handled the negotiations with the siblings’ father, and now Bayern have the task of convincing Levy to sell Kane this summer and avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Speculation around an opening £60m bid from Bayern has been dismissed by some outlets, though Spurs’ stance remains the same – Kane is not for sale this summer to those either in the Premier League or abroad.

United have also been interested in landing Kane this summer, as the striker has failed to indicate willingness to sign a new contract in north London, but the Red Devils are said to have grown frustrated with negotiations as Levy has been clear that he does not want to lose Kane during this window.

Spurs understandably do not want to strengthen one of their rivals by allowing them to sign Kane, but whether they would be more willing to lose him to Bayern remains to be seen.

Bayern have moved forward for Kane after a meeting at the club on Monday between their sports committee where it was agreed upon that they would attempt to land the man who notched 30 league goals last season.

They hope to sign Kane for under £85m and have taken a big step forward by reportedly agreeing personal terms in principle with the striker’s entourage.

Bayern made their supposed £60m offer after having agreed terms with Kane, further encouraging them that a deal can be struck but Manchester City will warn them from two years ago that Levy is difficult to negotiate with – having failed to bring him to the Etihad before landing Erling Haaland the following season.
