‘I CAN’T BELIEVE POCHETTINO’: GROVES SHOCKED £40M STAR COULD LEAVE AMID TOTTENHAM RUMOURS
Perry Groves can’t believe Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea would be willing to let Conor Gallagher leave this summer amid rumours Tottenham Hotspur want to sign him.
With the new Chelsea manager trying to sort out the mess at Stamford Bridge, Groves feels that someone like Conor Gallagher is a player that suits Mauricio Pochettino’s style ‘down to the ground’.
But, instead, what could prove to be Chelsea’s loss could be Tottenham’s gain and it’s something Groves doesn’t agree with, as he told talkSPORT.
The issue facing Chelsea is that, in some cases, their hands might be tied because they simply have to get rid of players.
From an FFP standpoint and the fact that their squad is overcrowded, and if they want to bring in players that Pochettino wants, then the door has to open the other way.
That might just be the case with Gallagher, who was previously on-loan at Crystal Palace, as it’s a call that former Arsenal man Groves doesn’t agree with.
“There has been a max exodus of players from Chelsea, they have got to get rid of 12-14 players, haven’t they?!” said Groves.
“One of them, who is being talked about is Conor Gallagher. I can’t believe that Pochettino isn’t doing everything he can to keep Conor Gallagher at Chelsea because I think he is the sort of player, the remit that Pochettino has, it suits him down to the ground.”
Gallagher suits Tottenham and Postecoglou’s style
Whilst there are set to be big changes at Stamford Bridge, the same is going to happen at Tottenham, with new manager Ange Postecoglou looking to make his mark.
The Treble-winning coach at Celtic likes to play on the front foot and his players, especially the forward players, showcase a high level of energy.
A player like Gallagher is all-action wherever you put him, and if Spurs can get a deal over the line for the £40 million star, then they have a very good player on their hands.
