Trending:West Ham United contact Napoli for Hirving Lozano transfer
West Ham are said to have made an approach to Napoli to sign their Mexican international Hirving Lozano.
A bid in the region of £17m is said to have been offered to the Serie A champions for the winger, who featured 32 times in their championship success with a return of three goals and three assists.
That was Lozano’s fourth season in Naples following a very productive stay at PSV Eindhoven which earned him the move to Italy.
In what would be a significant move for the Hammers, ahead of the new season, the detail was provided by the Italian outlet.
“According to the De Laurentiis (Napoli owner) newspaper, he is preparing to meet Lozano and Zielinski’s agents to discuss their contract which expires in a year,” they wrote.
“Napoli is willing to listen to any offers. The Mexican has requests from West Ham with a valuation of 20 million (Euros).”
Lozano would be a very interesting proposition for the Hammers.
Yes, he didn’t have the most impressive of seasons in terms of his numbers for Napoli but he was, and remains, an integral part of their squad.
With just a year of his deal at the Maradona Stadium to go, it makes sense for the Campania side to sign him up or sell now.
At 27, he should be approaching his peak and his next contract will reflect that. He would command a hefty salary at the London Stadium if the Italians are willing to do a deal in and around the £17m mark.
This is an interesting, transfer story to monitor and what would be a signal of intent for David Moyes’ side as they look to kick on from the Europa Conference League success to make forward strides in the Premier League.
There will also be another odyssey abroad with a return to the Europa League in what will be the third consecutive continental campaign.
