Alfie Whiteman to be sold by Tottenham, ‘it has been made clear to him’ – Insider Tottenham News speaking to John Wenham
John Wenham claims Tottenham are likely to sell goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman before the transfer deadline.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that Brandon Austin is ahead of Whiteman, 25, in the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou.
Austin has featured in all five of Spurs’ pre-season matches thus far while Whiteman has made just one appearance off the bench.
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has pointed toward the shot-stoppers contractual situation as another reason for him to be sold.
“It seems as though Whiteman might also be moved on,” Wenham said.
“I think it has been made clear to him that Austin is in front of him in the pecking order at the club.
“He has a year to go on his contract and this might therefore be the best time for him to move on from Tottenham. I think some real pecking order decisions were made on this recent pre-season tour.”

However, neither of them have ever made a dent on the first team, and it feels as though now is the time for at least one of them to be moved on.
Guglielmo Vicario is the undisputed number one at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, with Fraser Forster not getting any younger, it appears as though the number two spot could soon become available.
Tottenham, Fraser Forster
Fraser Forster is the current backup goalkeeper at Tottenham.
Out of Austin and Whiteman, it looks as though the former is in a better position to claim that spot, suggesting to Whiteman that a Spurs exit is best for him at this stage in his career.
In other Tottenham news, a takeover of the club is now more likely after an official announcement.
