Everton takeover development emerges as Crystal Palace chief John Textor back in frame

Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor is back in the frame to buy Everton as the takeover saga takes a new twist, according to Ed Aarons.

The Guardian journalist reported on 9 August that for him to successfully complete the purchase of the Toffees, the condition is that he’ll have to sell his stake in Palace.

The American billionaire was previously in the frame to buy the Toffees, but Farhad Moshiri handed exclusivity to the Friedman Group.

Via X, Aarons wrote: “John Textor back in frame to buy Everton but must sell Palace shares first. Offer from co-owners Josh Harris and David Blitzer has been rejected, with three other investors in frame, including sports-celebrity-backed US group.”

John Textor may be a decent owner for Everton in the near future

The American’s involvement with Crystal Palace and other football clubs demonstrates his understanding of the football business.

Textor’s multi-club ownership model could provide Everton with access to a network of talent and resources.

This could help Everton improve their scouting and player development systems, which are crucial for long-term success.

Furthermore, Textor’s interest in the Toffees suggests a willingness to invest in the club’s future.

The Merseyside club has been in need of significant investment to compete with the top clubs in the Premier League.

Textor’s resources could help them strengthen their squad and improve their infrastructure, such as their training facilities and stadium.
