On Monday, the U.S. men won bronze in the gymnastics team competition for the Americans’ first Olympic medal in the event since 2008. The U.S. women’s basketball team opened group play with a rout of Japan. Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal in the second round of the men’s tennis singles tournament. Here’s what to know:
Simone Biles is slated to perform on all four apparatuses in today’s team final, despite dealing with a minor calf injury Sunday. The final begins at 12:15 p.m. Eastern.
The U.S. women’s rugby sevens team, led by breakout star Ilona Maher, is in the semifinals against New Zealand at 9:30 a.m. Eastern. The Americans have never won a medal in rugby sevens.
American Regan Smith and Australian Kaylee McKeown are set to face off in the women’s 100-meter backstroke final at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. The finals for the men’s 800 freestyle and the men’s 4×200 freestyle relay will follow.
