“Micah Richards Unveils Bizarre Rumor About £54m Manchester City Star”
In their latest domestic season, the Manchester club followed up their Treble-winning campaign by securing the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and their sixth Premier League title in seven years.
With the season now over, numerous players from the Premier League, including 14 from City, are set to participate in the European Championship, which kicks off with hosts Germany facing Scotland.
Ahead of the tournament, Richards shared insights about a key City player who could play a significant role for his country in the coming month.
During a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, co-hosted with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, Richards discussed Belgium’s prospects in the Euros in Germany. He mentioned, “One thing I will say, though, and I was working with Roberto Martinez for CBS, who said it was very difficult to play [Eden] Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne in the same team because Hazard was trying to slow it down and Kevin De Bruyne was trying to speed it up. So, they were never really on the same wavelength in terms of what they were wanting to do on the pitch, which was strange really.”
At 32, De Bruyne, who joined City for £54m in 2015, has made 101 appearances for Belgium, scoring 27 goals. Out of those, he played 74 matches alongside Hazard, who retired last October at 33. Together, they achieved seven joint goal participations, with De Bruyne scoring twice from Hazard’s assists and assisting Hazard five times.

Last month, Hazard named De Bruyne as the best current Belgian player, highlighting his admiration for his former teammate. With Martinez’s comments about their lack of synchronicity, it will be interesting to see how De Bruyne performs in the tournament without Hazard in the squad.
