“Raheem Mostert Corrects Misinformation About Childhood Incident and Growth”

On Friday, Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert addressed some misinformation that had gone viral on social media. As a child of three, Mostert accidentally shot himself in the foot with a gun. He had previously discussed this incident in a 2020 interview with Tyler Dunne of Bleacher Report.

A football-focused account on X, “MLFootball,” recently posted about the old incident, claiming Mostert is only 5 foot 10 because the gunshot wound stunted his growth.

Mostert corrected the post, clarifying that his height was unaffected by the incident. “Height had nothing to do with it,” he said. “It stunted my growth plate in my foot. Gotta re-work the verbiage. Still 5’11”.”

Despite the potentially fatal incident, Mostert has achieved a successful NFL career. Last season, his second with the Dolphins, he rushed for 1,012 yards and scored 18 touchdowns on 209 carries, earning his first Pro Bowl selection.
