Five-star receiver, Auburn flip target Ryan Williams reclassifies to 2024 class

The race for 2025 Saraland receiver Ryan Williams just got more interesting.
Williams, a five-star recruit and the top receiver in the 2025 class, announced Monday morning that he’s reclassifying to the 2024 class.
An Alabama commit since October 2022, Williams has been on five unofficial visits to Auburn since committing to the Crimson Tide, according to his 247Sports Profile. It’s also been directly reported on multiple occasions that Hugh Freeze and his Auburn staff are trying to flip the Saraland standout.
Williams is also an Auburn legacy. His father, Ryan Williams Sr., played cornerback at Auburn in the late 2000s.
In the 2025 class, Williams was ranked as high as the No. 3, and as low as the No. 4, player in the nation. All major recruiting sites listed him as the No. 1 receiver in the class and the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama.

Saraland and Williams finished the 2023 state runner-ups, and he dazzled in the Spartan offense alongside 2025 quarterback and Texas commit KJ Lacey. Williams logged 1,324 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 72 receptions this season. His all-purpose totals reached 1,999 yards and 28 touchdowns, with 261 rush yards and another 414 yards on kick and punt returns.
In Friday’s Class 6A State Championship Game at Bryant-Denny Stadium, Williams set a state title game record with 236 receiving yards on 12 receptions. He also had four total touchdowns, catching passes for two of them while rushing for another and making the second half opening kickoff a house call.
