Crystal Palace have been handed a major boost, as defender Marc Guehi appears keen to stay at the club beyond the January transfer window.

The defender has been outstanding for both club and country this season, and has attracted interest from a number of clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Crystal Palace will not have let him go cheaply, but if an offer were to arrive, there may have been fears that he could become unsettled. However, this no longer appears to be the case.

Marc Guehi wants to stay at Crystal Palace

A report from The Express has now claimed that the 23-year-old is determined to shrug off the interest from elsewhere and stay at Crystal Palace, as he aims to be included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championships this summer.

It has been reported that Guehi will not even entertain the idea of a mid-season move, despite Chelsea, Man United and Spurs all eyeing up a £60m move for the centre-back.

Is Crystal Palace the best place for Guehi to earn an England spot?

Although Southgate has his favourites, he has selected Guehi to start in both of England’s last two games, and he performed well in both matches.

Guehi is a regular, and consistent performer for Crystal Palace, who have the joint-most clean sheets in the Premier League, and the club are keen to tie him down to a new contract.

Whilst Palace teammate Tyrick Mitchell may consider himself unlucky that he has been overlooked, it seems that being at Palace, rather than a top-six club, will not hold Guehi back from a potential place in the squad this summer.

If Harry Maguire continues to struggle for minutes at Man United, Guehi will hope that playing regularly at a high level will even give him a chance to start, but for now he is better off staying at Palace and maintaining his regular minutes to give himself the best chance of a spot on the plane.
