£7m Premier League player has now made a claim about Manchester City
J Andersen has now made a claim about Manchester City when speaking about Manchester United.
The £17m Crystal Palace defender made the comment when chatting to Danish news outlet Bold.
So, what did Joachim Andersen say about Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the Crystal Palace No.16 was asked about how difficult it is to play Manchester United at Old Trafford, after he scored to seal a 1-0 win for the south Londoners last month.
Unprompted, the Dane replied by saying that is is much harder to deal with Manchester City.
Andersen said: “It’s a cool stadium with a cool atmosphere. It’s clear that United are a big team. However, I would say that it is more difficult against Manchester City, to be honest.”
Manchester City fans will surely love to hear that, especially as the Denmark international wasn’t even asked about Pep Guardiola’s side.
Clearly, the challenge of winning at the Etihad Stadium is incomparable to defeating other Premier League sides at their respective stadiums, which is testament to Manchester City’s dominance across the past decade.
Manchester City should consider Joachim Andersen move if he keeps shining
In an opinion completed unrelated to Andersen’s comments, we believe Guardiola should consider signing the 27-year-old if he maintains his stunning form.
The Frederiksberg-born defender has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season, scoring two goals in eight appearances while also topping the defensive charts.
As WhoScored shows, Andersen is the highest rated central defender across Europe’s top five leagues this season with an average rating of 7.6 for Crystal Palace.
The Dane is also a superb technician, so he would presumably have no problem stepping into a midfield role, as Guardiola has asked John Stones and Manuel Akanji to do in Manchester City’s unique system.
It is unlikely to happen as things stand, but if Manchester City lose a central defender in 2024, we feel Andersen would be an excellent addition.
