‘It does look weird’: Thierry Henry makes Tottenham transfer claim about ‘complete’ player
Thierry Henry admits that it looks ‘weird’ that Harry Kane is no longer in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt, but in the Bayern Munich kit.
On Wednesday night, Harry Kane made his Champions League debut for Bayern Munich, as the German champions beat Manchester United 4-3, with the England captain scoring from the spot.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry stated that Harry Kane is now playing a ‘different’ role under Thomas Tuchel, in comparison to being able to drop deep in Tottenham colours, where he would feed the on-rushing Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount (20/09/23 at 7:50 pm).
One thing that hasn’t changed is the 30-year-old finding the back of the net because he has five in six games in all competitions for Bayern.
It’s now just a case of adding some trophies to those goals because many will now be tipping Bayern to win the Champions League this season because Harry Kane is now on board.
It’s still odd seeing the England captain no longer repping his stuff in the Premier League, but it’s a move he needed to make in order to better his career.
“It does look weird, in all fairness,” said Henry about Kane in a Bayern shirt. “But you have a different type of Harry Kane playing for Bayern Munich, and Tuchel said it, he is asking him to play really high.
“We all know at Tottenham he could do that (drop in midfield to collect the ball). Kulusevski and Son were going to run for him and score – but he has been asked to play a different way with Bayern. Go higher. Make runs and stay in the box. He is complete (player) anyway.
On if he enjoys seeing Kane playing for Bayern: “Look, I have said it so many times and everyone knows what I think about Tottenham.
“I just enjoy watching him play. Full stop. You have to be honest at one point. You have to put the rivalry and everything on the side. He is a player I like to watch because he can do it all. He can come into midfield. Pass that ball. He has that de Bruyne pass in between the lines. He has it in the air. Good with his head. Take penalties. Free-kicks, he still needs to work on that.
“If you don’t like to watch Harry Kane, how he uses his body and how he can sometimes play alone up front. And how he can make you breathe a bit when you play away from home.
Only a number of weeks ago, Spurs downed Manchester United on home soil to put the heat up in the kitchen for Erik ten Hag.
Since then, more defeats have followed, including Brighton mauling them at Old Trafford over the weekend in the Premier League.
Well, Kane now did what he does best and that’s scoring against Manchester United again. That was his seventh strike against the Old Trafford-based club.
