West Ham United verdict emerges amid David Moyes sack decision

West Ham would be “incredibly stupid” to sack David Moyes amid reports linking the 60-year-old with an exit from the London Stadium.

As reported, Moyes’ future is in doubt following clashes between himself and the club’s new technical director Tim Steidten over the current transfer situation.

The East London outfit are yet to announce any new arrivals this summer, although a deal for Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez is thought to be all but done

“I think it would be incredibly stupid of West Ham to let David Moyes go for whatever reason after winning them a historic European trophy.

“I do think he’s still capable of building something quite strong and long-lasting there and I think they need to trust him really. Whether that puts Steidten’s nose out of joint, and it means that he’s coming to a job where he hasn’t been given the kind of responsibility that he would really like, I don’t know.

“But it does seem like something is not quite right there. I think West Ham should be hoping that it doesn’t come to some kind of breaking point.”

When a manager falls out with members of the board it is never a good sign and usually marks the beginning of the end for either the manager himself or the senior member of staff he has fallen out with.

At a football club, it is vital that everyone is pulling in the same direction and sharing the same vision in order to be successful, and it doesn’t seem as though this is the case at West Ham at this moment in time.

Although a deal for Alvarez is close, it is still not enough and the club will be desperate to bring in new recruits before the transfer window shuts, and with the reported tension that exists, that will not be easy.

The best scenario here would be for Moyes and Steidten to put their differences aside and get on the same page because sacking someone who has been as successful with the club as Moyes has been, so close to the start of the season, could come back to bite them.
