Report: Selling club are hoping to reach breakthrough with Spurs on Tuesday

Mundo Deportivo have revealed that Barcelona are hoping to resolve the logjam in their negotiations with Tottenham over Clement Lenglet when the two sides face each other on Tuesday.

Last week, we relayed an update from Sport, which claimed that Lenglet had turned down the chance to sign Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr as he wants to return to Spurs.

This information has now also been backed up by Mundo Depertivo who claim that even though the Saudi side were willing to offer the Frenchman a ‘good contract’, the player made it clear that he wants to continue playing in Europe.

The report adds that Barcelona are now ‘prioritising’ the 28-year-old’s exit, with Tottenham still ‘persisting’ with their interest.

It is explained that the La Liga giants are hoping to ‘unblock’ the negotiations with the Lilywhites when the Premier League side travel to Catalonia on Tuesday for the Joan Gamper Trophy clash.

The publication adds that the leaders of the two clubs are expected to meet and hope to ‘find a solution’ to the transfer.

However, Mundo Deportivo add that Tottenham are not the only ones interested in Lenglet, with Serie A duo, AC Milan and Napoli, also said to be eyeing the former Sevilla man.

It is clear that Tottenham are not going to budge from their stance as the North London club know that their position gets stronger as we get deeper into the transfer window.

It is Barcelona who would have to lower their asking price as they are evidently desperate to get the 28-year-old off their wage bill.
