‘I can’t wait’: £15m star ‘very excited’ he will play at Tottenham’s stadium for the first time

Destiny Udogie says he is ‘very excited’ at the prospect of playing at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium for the first time on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham will host Shakhtar Donetsk in a pre-season friendly ahead of the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

It is set to be Destiny Udogie’s debut season in English football after signing for Spurs last summer for £15 million from Udinese (Sky Sports) – he was loaned back to the club, at the time.

The 20-year-old has looked sharp in pre-season, and impressed many, but when he was asked about playing at Tottenham’s home stadium for the first time, he told The Dairy Room, ‘I can’t wait’.

This will provide the Spurs faithful with a sneak peek of what the Italian left-back is all about, as he is set to get thrown into the deep end.

Luckily for Udogie, he has an attack-minded manager that will allow his game to remain expressive because that’s when he is at his best.

“Really, I can’t wait,” said Udogie about playing at Spurs’ stadium. “I’m very excited about that.”

Tottenham’s 1bn stadium, but no European football

It has been suggested that Tottenham’s new home, which is just a stone’s throw away from where White Hart Lane was, is worth a staggering £1bn (Forbes).

All that time and effort was put into the stadium, yet here Spurs fans stand today without any European football heading into the new campaign.

During that period of entering their new surroundings, they have declined and they could also be about to lose their star striker Harry Kane.
