Journalist claims London rival could make a move for Spurs-linked striker

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Fulham could make a move for rumoured Tottenham target, Mehdi Taremi if Aleksandar Mitrovic ends up joining Al-Hilal.

With speculation over Kane’s future continuing to run rife, Tottenham are increasingly being linked with several centre-forwards.

Over the last week, Juventus‘ Dusan Vlahovic (SportMediaSet) and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani (RMC Sport) have both been mooted as potential replacements for the England captain.

Another left-field suggestion that has been put forward is Taremi, with journalist Sacha Tavolieri claiming last week that Spurs are considering making a move for the prolific Porto star.

The Iranian international has been one of the standout strikers in the Portuguese top flight over the last few years and he finished the 2022-23 season with 31 goals and 14 assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Tavolieri claimed that Porto are set to demand a fee of around €15m-€20m (£12.8m-£17m) for the 31-year-old centre-forward.

Fulham are also looking at Spurs-linked Taremi

Jones has now revealed that Taremi is one of the players on Fulham’s wishlist to replace Mitrovic if the Serb completes a switch to Saudi Arabia.

The journalist said on the Fulhamish Podcast: “Players often get what they want, I hope Mitro isn’t going on strike to force this (move to Al-Hilal). Mehdi Taremi was one who was mentioned to me who we might look at, I don’t mind that at all.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham do lose Kane to Bayern, they are going to need a top-class centre-forward who is proven in a top league, which Taremi evidently is not.

The last time we bought the Golden Boot winner from Portugal (Carlos Vinicius), it did not work out too well for us. Besides, the Iranian also does not fit the age profile that Postecoglou would want.
