Liverpool have already welcomed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to Anfield this summer.
A third midfielder is still a possibility despite the additions of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, as the Reds look to replenish their options following the end-of-season exits of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.
The ECHO understands that Romeo Lavia and Khephren Thuram are two players of interest. The club has also been exploring potential centre-back targets.

Liverpool are ‘still open’ for £25m transfer deal nobody is talking about
Galatasaray vice-president Erden Timur has reportedly held talks with Thiago Alcantara in England.
That’s according to Turkish publication Fanatik, via Sport Witness, who are reporting that Timur made a “very good offer” to the Spain international and that Thiago has welcomed this proposal from Galatasaray.
The report adds that Timur has also held talks with Liverpool to find out the conditions needed to sign the former Barcelona man in this window, though the club’s response is not detailed. Thiago returned to pre-season training with Liverpool yesterday.
Romeo Lavia
Liverpool are convinced Romeo Lavia wants to join them ahead of his other suitors, according to Football Insider.
It is claimed in the report that Liverpool believe the player is keen to move to Anfield and that a deal is “expected to be agreed”, if the fee can be settled. However, the report also claims that the Reds face strong competition from Premier League rivals, including Arsenal and Chelsea.
It has been widely reported that the Saints are looking to get an amount of around £50 million for the highly-rated 19-year-old, who has returned to training at Southampton ahead of their first pre-season friendly against Benfica on Wednesday.
