Liverpool’s €70m transfer target has a Steven Gerrard Tattoo on his arm
Liverpool are going through the motions as they explore a deal to sign Dominik Szoboszlai and it turns out Steven Gerrard is one of his idols.
Jurgen Klopp wants to add Szoboszlai to his squad and with the German set to gather his players from the 8th of July for pre-season, he will want to do so as soon as possible.
According to the Athletic, Liverpool have met with the player’s entourage to discuss a move to Anfield this summer but that is as far as the interest has gone at this stage.
His contract with RB Leipzig includes a €70m release clause.
Newcastle United – as per Football Insider – have approached RB Leipzig to sign the 22-year-old while there are doubts over whether or not he will move to St. James’ Park.
If it comes down to it, Steven Gerrard may have indirectly helped his old club in this transfer.
The 22-year-old has a tattoo on his forearm – a quote from the former Liverpool skipper about what it takes to be a success in football.
He is quoted by Index.hu as saying in : “Talent is a divine blessing, but without incredible will and humility, it is worth nothing.”
The attacking midfielder would be a thrilling player to have at Anfield next season. In addition to Alexis Mac Allister, the Reds’ midfield options would be greatly improved.
Liverpool are also reportedly close to bidding for Romeo Lavia after the 19-year-old was relegated with Southampton last season.
His signature could cost as much as £50M although with the Reds yet to actually make an official offer, that remains to be seen.
