Moises Caicedo could now be too expensive for Liverpool this summer

Moises Caicedo could now reportedly be too expensive for Liverpool to afford this summer, with Brighton & Hove Albion expected to raise the midfielder’s asking price.

According to the Times, the Seagulls already want at least £80m for the 21-year-old, with this figure expected to increase as the summer progresses, leaving Liverpool virtually out of the race to sign Caicedo despite their strong interest in the Ecuadorian.

Caicedo is one of many midfielders Liverpool have looked at signing this summer. Yet it is now becoming clear that the Premier League superstar will be simply too expensive for the Reds, an issue that has already ruined moves for the likes of Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.

With Chelsea also reportedly in talks to sign Caicedo, Liverpool again face another barrier in their pursuit to sign a world-class midfield wonderkid. And as a result, the Reds could soon officially drop out of the race to sign the South American talent.

Indeed, Caicedo would have been a dream addition for the Reds this summer. However, with Brighton sticking to their guns over the midfielder’s asking price, there’s now a real chance that the Seagulls superstar will become yet another failed pursuit for Liverpool.

Liverpool should quit Caicedo chase whilst they are ahead

Caicedo is one of the best midfield talents in Europe after a breakout year with Brighton last season. And although the youngster would be a dream signing for Liverpool, the finances that could be demanded from the Amex Stadium side simply aren’t worth it for the Reds.

As we know, Liverpool only have so much to spend this summer having missed out on top-four. And because of this, only so much can be spent on a single player, with Caicedo not worthy of the funds that the Anfield giants will have to put out for the 21-year-old.
