Media raves about £80,000-a-week Tottenham Hotspur player on international duty

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies was on international duty with Wales on Thursday evening, and the performance of the Spurs star was hailed in the Welsh media.

Ben Davies started for Wales in their friendly international match against South Korea at Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff on Thursday evening.

The match ended in a goalless draw.

Davies started on the left of a three-man central defence system in which Connor Roberts and Neco Williams were the two wing-backs.

During his time at Tottenham Hotspur in recent seasons, Davies has been playing on the left of a three-man defence.

The £80,000-a-week (Spotrac) 30-year-old is a left-back by trade.

WalesOnline has raved about Davies for his performance for Wales against South Korea.

While rating his performance at 7 out of 10 and describing him as the ‘Star Man”, the report noted: “Felt like he was everywhere at times.

“Did his job defensively with minimal fuss and showed little fear in getting forward. A really good performance.”

Ben Davies struggling for playing time at Spurs

Davies is a very good defender who has been on the books of Tottenham since 2014 when he joined after leaving Swansea City.

While the Wales international has done well for Spurs over the years, he does not appear to be majorly in the plans of Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou at the moment.

After all, Davies has made two substitute appearances in the Premier League and has played once in the EFL Cup for Tottenham so far this season.

The defender is clearly now a squad player at Tottenham, and we do not think that playing well for Wales is going to change that.
