Everton: David Ornstein shares brand new points deduction appeal update at Goodison Park

David Ornstein has insisted that Everton will hear the result of their points deduction appeal at the end of February, despite reports claiming otherwise.

The Athletic journalist shared that he was not sure where reports that a result was imminent were coming from, as the timeline had always been set for the end of the month.

Ornstein then went on to share that no news regarding the appeal has been relayed to Everton yet, with the club still in the dark about the outcome.

Writing in a Q&A for The Athletic [22 February], Ornstein reported: “Expected timescale has always been the end of February.

“I’m not sure where all the ‘imminent’, ‘today’, ‘tomorrow’, ‘Everton have been told’ rumours are coming from but as far as I know, there is no news and nothing has been relayed to the club yet.”

When will Everton hear their points deduction appeal verdict?

With the news now that a verdict will not be heard until the end of the month, fans who were sat refreshing their phones in case of any news can ease off – for now.

It had been reported at one stage that the news could be heard before the clash with Crystal Palace. That then changed to shortly after the game, which turned into some time this week – and now Ornstein has claimed that was never going to be the case.

Andy Burnham has been hugely critical of the Premier League for the time taken to deliver the outcome of Everton’s appeal, sharing his view that the league are trying to kill the club as a result of continued confusion.

The lack of communication from the Premier League is the biggest issue at hand here. If there was some transparency, it would stop the clamour for answers and encourage patience.

Despite no official communication, it has now become clear that it will be closer to the end of February before Everton hears any result of their appeal.
