Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez sends Spurs message that Ange Postecoglou will love
Chelsea stars Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo were in action against each other as Argentina faced Ecuador last night – with Lionel Messi scoring a late winner in the World Cup qualification clash
Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez has been full of praise for Argentinian teammate and Tottenham nemesis Cristian Romero. The reigning world champions began their World Cup qualification campaign with a 1-0 win against Ecuador last night.
Enzo lined up against his new Chelsea teammate, Moises Caicedo, as Argentina took all three points thanks to a brilliant Lionel Messi free-kick. Tottenham’s Romero was a crucial figure for the world champions as he put in tackle after tackle to keep an important clean sheet.
Enzo took to Instagram to describe the Spurs star as the best central defender in world football, an opinion that may not go down too well with some sections of the Chelsea fanbase – but one Ange Postecoglou and the Tottenham fans would adore. The Tottenham man has started strong this season, and Fernandez was seemingly impressed beyond belief by what he did on international duty.
The Chelsea star commented on Romero’s Instagram post: “The best central [defender] in the world.” The Spurs man posted: “It was important to start on the right foot today. Great game @afaseleccion. This is the way. Thanks everyone for the love.”
Some Chelsea fans may take issue with Enzo’s claim about Romero – especially when he plays with Thiago Silva. The veteran defender continues to impress for the Blues despite heading towards 40-years-old, whilst young talent Levi Colwill has also started the season strongly.
