Harvey Elliott has praised the impact of fellow Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
Szoboszlai has been an instant hit at Anfield following his move from RB Leipzig in the summer. Slotting seamlessly into Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, the Hungarian has even drawn comparisons with the great Steven Gerrard.
And speaking to 90min this week, Elliott has suggested that the Liverpool squad feel exactly the same way about their new No.8.
“He’s obviously world class and still so young as well,” raved the 20-year-old. “Hopefully he’s going to be here for many, many seasons, as well as the other signings as well.
“Obviously he’s probably getting all the headlines but everyone’s come in, fitted into the team very well and showcased their talent.
“To have these players coming in, it’s always a positive boost for us. It keeps relationships healthy, getting into positions.”

Although Szoboszlai has undoubtedly had a supreme start to his Liverpool career, we think it’s slightly premature for these kinds of words to be flung about.

Every footballer has an off day once in a while and Szoboszlai’s shouldn’t be scrutinised for that, especially having been so good up to this point.
But the praise has been showered upon him, so it’s only fair to point out that he was poor away to both Bournemouth and Luton Town last week.

Unfortunately, there looked to us to be a slight hint of complacency kicking in for Szoboszlai.
As we’ve often seen with Trent Alexander-Arnold down the years, players that ooze quality can sometimes look like they’re taking their foot off the pedal in ‘easier’ games like these.
That may be a little harsh, but either way Szoboszlai was far from his usual swashbuckling self in both away games.
For labels like the one Elliott is lauding him with to stick, we need to see better performances over the next run of games. As he has so often already, we’re sure Szobo will deliver.
