Roy Hodgson explains Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s absence from matchday squad

Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s absence from the matchday squad during the Eagles 2-0 win over Burnley has been explained.

The exciting youngster has given Crystal Palace fans some excitement this season and with the club languishing in mid-table, that excitement has certainly been needed in South London.

The reason the winger missed the game was down to injury according to Roy Hodgson who spoke after the game against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley at Turf Moor.

This comes as a huge blow for the Eagles as the youngster was just finding his feet in South London and looked to be a real handful for opposition defenders.

Speaking to London News Online after the game, Hodgson sounded downbeat about Rak Sakyi’s injury problem.

It’s bad,” confirmed Hodgson. “We don’t know 100 per cent. We’re not talking a week or two, we’re probably talking longer than that. It’s a real blow.

“Just as you get Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise back almost into the fold, you lose another player who we think is very important for us in our attacking play.

Rak-Sakyi injury a big blow

The young winger has done exceptionally well during all of the chances he has been given to impress under Hodgson but losing a player of his quality is a crushing blow for the Eagles.

The injury, according to London News Online, is a hamstring strain that he suffered during training with the Eagles, this isn’t a rare occurrence for the Eagles.

Nathan Ferguson, Odsonne Edouard, Michael Olise, Jefferson Lerma and Eberechi Eze have all picked up hamstring injuries during the season.
