Everton ace Dele Alli may have suffered another injury setback after what Sean Dyche said
Sean Dyche answered bluntly when asked about the progress of Dele Alli after Everton suffered a 3-0 defeat to Wolves, as he shared that the club are monitoring his situation.
Whether it was due to the result on the day or because the midfielder had suffered another setback is unclear, but the new update doesn’t sound particularly positive compared to previous information.
The last time the boss commented on Alli, he had rejoined first-team training and was working his way back to full fitness. Now it’s back to assessing his injury.

Speaking to BBC journalist Shamoon Hafez following the 3-0 defeat to Wolves [30 December], Dyche shared: “We are monitoring his situation, his injury is being assessed.”
This comment is notably less enthusiastic than the boss was on 24 November when he shared: “It’s good to see Dele back on the grass. He’s joined in a couple of warm-ups – and he’s just feeling his way back in.” [via Premier Injuries]
Dyche’s comments could hint at yet another injury blow for Alli in what has been a nightmare spell for him at Everton with injuries continuing to plague his time at Goodison Park, particularly if he has faced yet another setback in his recovery.
Going from training with the first team to assessing the progress of his injury and monitoring his situation doesn’t come across as the natural progress of recovery but more that something had changed in between the two updates.
Injury expert Ben Dinnery has Alli pencilled in for a February return to playing via his Premier Injuries website, following the break in Premier League football, but Dyche’s new comments are far from optimistic and don’t seem to hint at a return being just a month away.
If Alli has faced another setback in his recovery, the news will likely come out in the coming days as he continues his path to recovery with Everton, but the length of his absence and renewed pessimism around a return do not bode well.
