Everton: Robbie Savage makes new relegation prediction live on air after Luton defeat
Robbie Savage has predicted Everton to join Sheffield United and Burnley in getting relegated from the Premier League come the end of the season, after Luton’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United.
The former Leicester midfielder backed Luton to stay up ahead of Sean Dyche’s side despite falling to a defeat against Manchester United at Kenilworth Road.
Luton have received plenty of praise for their efforts this season as they have put up a stern challenge, although Chris Sutton still predicted the Hatters to fall short.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live [18 February, 18:52], Savage predicted: “I’ll go with Sheffield United, Burnley, and I think I’m going to go with Everton. I’ll go with Everton,” as Sutton shared: “I’m going to stick with what I said at the start of the season, with Luton [to go down].”
Luton Town could stay up at the expense of Everton
Despite the full-time score at Kenilworth Road, Luton turned in the sort of performance that gave hope to those backing them to stay up this season, with more possession and more shots than Manchester United.
It is performances like that which lead to suggestions they could pip Everton to survival, with the clash between the two sides on 4 May shaping up to be crucial and a potential relegation decider.
Everton’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace could also prove crucial, with the Eagles five points above Dyche’s side – a gap that can be cut to just two points with a victory as we await the outcome of the points deduction appeal.

It’s a shame that the relegation battle may ultimately be decided by points deductions rather than the talent on show on the pitch, as none of the battling teams have their own futures in their hands.
