Next five Spurs fixtures compared to Arsenal and Liverpool amid title hopes

Tottenham news – Spurs have continued their flying start with a late turnaround against Sheffield United, keeping themselves firmly in the conversation for a good finish this season

The feel-good factor is back at Tottenham and while many are trying their best to not get carried away early in the Premier League season, they won’t be blamed for doing so. Under new head coach Ange Postecoglou, the Lilywhites are flying, having one of their best starts to a campaign in years and all while playing attractive, attacking football.

An opening day draw with Brentford was followed by three wins on the bounce over Manchester United, Bournemouth and Burnley heading into the international break. With two weeks away, Spurs looked to come back stronger after the break with a home clash against Sheffield United.

The Blades, on the back of a positive first point of the season last time out, looked to frustrate the home side and did so well, even taking the lead through Gustavo Hamer. With the game dragging on, it seemed likely that a first loss of the league campaign was on the way, but there was a twist in the tale.

A point appeared to be rescued by Richarlison in the eighth minute of stoppage time as he scored his first of the season and sent the stadium wild. The Brazilian, who was in the headlines this week after admitting that off the field problems had impacted his own performances, had yet another role to play.

The striker danced his way into the box before finding Dejan Kulusevski, who struck the ball into the back of the net in the 101st minute to send the stadium into pandemonium. The huge result leaves Spurs second, taking 13 points from a possible 15 on offer, and still dreaming of a title push this early on.

The games don’t get much easier, though, and there will have to be some huge results in their favour in the next few if they wish to keep that dream alive. With that said, here’s a look at Tottenham’s next five fixtures compared to their rivals.

Speaking of rivals, they don’t really get much bigger for Spurs than facing Arsenal in the north London derby, which is their next game. The Gunners have put themselves in the title picture after a successful season last time out and while they haven’t performed to their best this time around, they’ve proven a difficult team to beat again and the added tension of a derby may make for a feisty game.

Liverpool (H) – September 30
Another team who may find themselves in the title discussion this season are Liverpool, who have looked to transform their ranks under Jurgen Klopp over the summer. The Reds have also taken 13 points from their opening five games, showing they are more than capable of repeating past title feats.
Luton Town (A) – October 7

Premier League new boys Luton Town have had a rough start to life in the division as they remain without a point after their opening five games. Rob Edwards will no doubt be hopeful that a home crowd could inspire a memorable victory over Spurs, but their early struggles indicate it could be a tough game for them.
Fulham (H) – October 23

After the second international break of the season, a return home will see Tottenham in an all-London affair with Fulham. Marco Silva’s side have been inconsistent, but will be glad to have picked up some points early on with seven on the board after their first five games.
Crystal Palace (A) – October 27

Back-to-back London clashes are on the cards as just a few days after Spurs’ match with Fulham, with a trip to Selhurst Park and Crystal Palace. The Eagles also have seven points from a possible 15 on offer and will be hopeful they can continue to tally more on their way to safety and perhaps even more.
