‘He’s playing in lead boots’: BBC pundit tears into £175,000-a-week Tottenham player

Garth Crooks has criticised Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison for his performances so far this season.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player has said on BBC Sport that Richarlison is playing like he has got lead boots on.

Crooks made the comments about the £175,000-a-week Brazil international forward (SalarySport) while discussing the impressive performances of Tottenham and England international attacking midfielder James Maddison.

Maddison joined Tottenham from Leicester City in the summer transfer window and has settled in seamlessly into the North London club’s team.

As for Richarlison, the Brazil international forward is really struggling this season.

Just like he did last season.

The 26-year-old has made three appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham this season.

The Tottenham no. 9 has not scored or provided an assist.

Crooks said: “Harry Kane doesn’t play for Tottenham any more, but it does not seem to have stunted their growth.

“Eric Dier is nowhere to be seen and Richarlison looks like he’s playing in lead boots, but since the arrival of new manager Ange Postecoglou and especially Maddison, Spurs are starting to look like a team and not a one-man show.”

Richarlison has been really disappointing for Tottenham, but hope springs eternal.

Perhaps it will click for the Brazilian eventually.

What Richarlison needs is a goal or two, and perhaps the floodgates with open then.

The 26-year-old is a very good forward.

After all, you do not earn 44 caps for Brazil if you are not a good player.

Richarlison has made 203 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The forward has scored 49 goals and given 19 assists in those games.
