Kane tweeted this morning as part of a video message: “Hard to put into words how to say goodbye to a club and fans who have done so much for me in my career. You will always be in my heart. Thank you Tottenham, thank you Tottenham fans.”
In the video, he said: “I wanted to be the first to tell you Tottenham fans that I’ll be leaving the club today. Obviously a lot of emotions going through me right now. Sad to be leaving the club I’ve spent nearly 20 years of my life at from an 11-year-old boy to a 30-year-old man.
“There’s been so many great moments and special memories that I’ll cherish forever. This is a thank you to all my team-mates over the years, all my coaches, all the managers, every single staff member to do with the club, from the kitman to the chefs, everyone involved.
Obviously I’ve built special relationships with a lot of people and most importantly a thank you to you, the Tottenham fans. From the moment I’ve been playing I’ve been one of your own and I’ve give everything I possibly could to make you proud.”
Kane could land his first piece of Bayern Munich silverware tonight after putting pen to paper with the German champions. After finally being granted permission to fly to Bavaria on Friday, Kane complete both parts of his medical before signing a four-year contract.
Bayern are believed to be paying Tottenham an initial £86m with add-ons taking the total deal beyond the £100m mark. With Kane signed, Bayern are now looking to get him registered in time to play a part in tonight’s Germany Super Cup against RB Leipzig.
An official announcement is expected at some point this morning – and that Kane will be involved in the squad tonight.
With excitement in the German city at fever pitch, dozens of fans waited outside the club’s training centre to catch a glimpse of Kane, who acknowledged them by waving out of an upstairs window.
