Everton could potentially sign Fred in the winter transfer window to bolster their squad during the Africa Cup of Nations.

The major international tournament will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, leaving several clubs in Europe without some of their talents for a while.

Idrissa Gueye has been pivotal for David Moyes, but the Scottish manager may be without the 36-year-old midfielder for a considerable time around the crucial festive period.

Fred has been linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the Blues may have a chance to finalise a deal in January.

The Turkish journalist, as relayed by Fener Ajans on 22 October, revealed that the Super Lig outfit are considering evaluating offers for the Brazil international and the 26-year-old Polish winger in the coming months.

It appears that the Istanbul club’s manager, Domenico Tedesco, who replaced Jose Mourinho this season, doesn’t have the duo in his plans at the Chobani Stadium.

Fred was linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the summer, but Fenerbahce were expecting an offer of around £17million for the 32-year-old, which certainly seems a bit overboard.

It will be interesting to see how much the Super Lig outfit will demand for the Brazilian national now as they look to part ways with him.

While not all teams will make it far in the AFCON, Senegal will undoubtedly be one of the favourites for the competition with Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye at their disposal.

David Moyes should ask for new left-back in January
James Garner has been pivotal for Moyes this season, with his versatility coming in handy at the Toffees.

Everton have a relatively small squad right now, leaving the Scottish manager with several headaches due to injuries in the backline and midfield at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Vitalii Mykolenko has picked up a few knocks already in the current campaign, but it looks like Adam Aznou isn’t trusted to feature regularly for the first team just yet.

While Fred can be a short-term solution for the Merseyside outfit in January, it would be better to sign a new left-back and free up Garner from potentially having to play at left-back with Gueye possibly off to AFCON.
