‎David Moyes has them in contention for European qualification, but they need a reliable goalscorer to have the best chance.

‎It has been suggested that Toney should move to Everton, and reject interest from other top-flight clubs, such as West Ham.

‎MORE TOFFEES STORIES
‎Daniel Storey, the i News reporter, claimed that the 29-year-old would have a better chance of getting into the World Cup squad with the Blues.

‎Writing about the Toffees’ striker situation, he said: “What about Ivan Toney in January? West Ham are very keen, but if I were Toney I’d be very enthused about having chances created by Grealish et al and giving me an outside run at a World Cup place next summer.”

‎Moyes and Co should take Storey’s suggestion seriously, Toney is a proven goalscorer in the English top-flight.

‎In his time with Brentford, he notched a total of 36 goals and assisted a further 11 in 83 matches in the division, with an impressive rate of 47.6 per cent for goal conversion.

‎However, he is so much more than just a goalscorer, as the Sofascore graphic below highlights, he can help them out in other ways too.

‎He won 7.40 duels per game and created 25 big chances, proving that he can do much more than just score goals.

‎Toney was one of the most dangerous strikers in the top-flight when he moved to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia in 2024.

‎He has maintained his form in the Arabian Peninsula, with 27 strikes and four assists in 35 league matches.

‎The ex-Bees star has scored six times, with three assists in 16 AFC Champions League matches, and a further five goals and one assist in four cup matches.

‎He also makes 0.95 key passes per game and has created a total of 17 big chances for his teammates.

‎That suggests that he can still find the back of the net, as well as create, and it could tempt the Toffees to make a move if he becomes available.

‎If he can recreate the form that he has shown, both in the English game and in Saudi, then he could prove to be a brilliant addition.
