Supercomputer makes interesting prediction for Everton vs Wolves in Carabao Cup

Everton take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

There’s not much time for rest from Saturday’s Merseyside derby for Everton, so David Moyes will be forced to name a much-changed starting line-up.

Tyler Dibling, Merlin Rohl and Adam Aznou could all make their first starts for the club after joining in the summer.

Ahead of tomorrow night’s clash, the Opta supercomputer has made its prediction, and it’s quite interesting.

Considering Everton have made a bright start to the season, whilst Wolves are languishing at the foot of the table, you’d think they’d be heavy favourites in this one.

However, interestingly, the supercomputer has it quite close, giving the Toffees a 42% chance of winning.

The hosts have a 31% chance, and a draw is quite high at 25%, so it’s predicted to be a really even affair on Tuesday.

That’s despite Wolves shipping three goals to newly-promoted Leeds United on the weekend, which was their fifth defeat of the season.

They currently reside in 20th place on zero points in the Premier League, meanwhile, Everton are up in the top half.

In recent years, the Carabao Cup has been seen as a bit of a distraction, with Everton’s priority on retaining their Premier League status.

However, this year, there is a different feel about the competition as it can provide a route to the Europa League.

Moyes will be keen to have a cup run, with the squad a lot better-equipped to handle the extra games if they can advance.

Victory on Tuesday night would see Everton in the fourth round of the competition for only the second time in five years.
