Everton must now be ready to make Wilfried Gnonto offer after Jesper Lindstrom update

Everton may still be facing plenty of problems off of the pitch this summer, but Sean Dyche’s side have been more active than expected in the transfer market.

Having moved early in the window to sign Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbubam, the Blues have now also added Napoli midfielder Jesper Lindstrom to their ranks on an initial loan deal.

Should Lindstrom impress on Merseyside, the Toffees are understood to be able to make his stay permanent for £18.9million next summer with a contract already agreed until the summer of 2029 [Fabrizio Romano, 26 July].

But with that addition completed, Dyche’s Blues can turn their attention to new targets and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them submit a new offer for Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto in the coming days.

The Italian international is understood to once again be a target for Everton, with reports suggesting he is keen to make the move to Goodison having been linked with the Blues last summer as well [Fabrizio Romano, 15 July].

Although nothing has yet been agreed between the two clubs, the Blues were expected to up their interest in Gnonto once the signing of Lindstrom had been confirmed [i News, 24 July].

Will Wilfried Gnonto exit Leeds United amid Everton transfer speculation?

With Lindstrom signed and announced, the path is clear for the Blues to push on and finally make an opening offer for the winger to try and convince Leeds to part ways with one of their most prized assets.

Any such deal won’t come cheap as the Whites are under absolutely no pressure to sell players this summer, but Everton reportedly have money to spend despite the current ownership drama.

Jesper Lindstrom has joined Everton on an initial loan

Kevin Thelwell and his recruitment team will be working around the clock to try and get as many deals done as possible ahead of the new Premier League season and they’ll certainly be upping the ante in the coming weeks.

Nothing is set in stone at this moment in time, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Thelwell submit a genuine offer to the Elland Road club sooner rather than later.
