Everton are edging closer to securing the signing of Jesper Lindstrom but he may not be the only midfielder to join Goodison Park this summer.
The Toffees need to bolster their midfield this summer after selling Amadou Onana for a fee of around £50 million.
They have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Napoli playmaker Lindstrom on loan with an obligation to make it permanent next summer.
Lindstrom is more of an attacking-minded midfielder, but Everton also need a defensive midfielder following the departure of Onana.
According to a report from talkSPORT, the Toffees are ready to offer an escape route to Kalvin Phillips to move to Goodison Park.
The 28-year-old midfielder has returned to Manchester City after a nightmare loan spell at West Ham. He is not in Pep Guardiola’s plans for next season, and City would be more than happy to offload him.
Alex Crook says that Sean Dyche is keen to sign the 31-time capped England international, but Everton can only afford to sign him on a loan deal at the moment.
Premier League rivals Fulham are also monitoring the Phillips as a potential replacement for Joao Palhinha, who has left Craven Cottage to sign for Bayern Munich.

The move to Manchester City went horribly wrong for him, as everyone soon discovered that he was like a square peg in a round hole. Under a different manager and a different system, Phillips can return to his old best.
Everton need a solid defensive midfielder, as they cannot rely on veteran Idrrisa Gueye to deliver every week. Phillips would be a risk-free signing for the Toffees, and it would be interesting to see if they make any formal effort to sign him.
