“Friedkin Group, Owners of Roma, Finalize Agreement to Purchase Everton”

With 777 Partners finally out of the picture, Everton’s sale has gained momentum as the Friedkin Group reaches an agreement in principle to purchase the majority stake from Farhad Moshiri.

Multiple media sources reported yesterday that Dan Friedkin, chairman of the Friedkin Group, is leading the race against four other bidders for the club. The group, which also owns AS Roma in Italy’s Serie A and AS Cannes in France’s Ligue 2, took over Roma in 2020 and appointed renowned manager Jose Mourinho, leading to a Europa Conference League victory in 2022.

The Friedkin Group now has an exclusive period to finalize the purchase of Moshiri’s 94% stake, with a decision potentially coming as soon as this weekend. The group is open to flexible deal structures, given that their CEO alone is worth at least £4.8 billion, with the entire business group valued significantly higher.Breaking:"Friedkin Group Secures Deal to Acquire Everton from Roma Owners...Read more

This development places the Friedkin Group ahead of other bidders, including UK-based investment firm Vici Private Finance, MSP Sports Capital, local businessmen Andy Bell and George Downing supported by Michael Dell’s family financing group, and the Manoukian consortium involving a Saudi royal, which has since withdrawn.

In a statement to BBC Sport, the Manoukian-led consortium expressed hope that the deal will bring success to Everton both on and off the pitch, while also thanking their investors and indicating a shift in focus to new opportunities.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on Everton’s prospective owners, including a Q&A session with the SB Nation Roma blog Chiesa di Totti, covering the Friedkin Group’s achievements over the past four years.
