“Saudi Club Renews Interest in Newcastle Player After £25m January Agreement”
Newcastle United have a potential buyer for a player they are looking to sell this summer.
The Magpies need to offload a player this month, being one of six Premier League clubs required to sell before June 30th due to PSR regulations.
While Newcastle is open to selling several players, finding actual buyers is challenging.
One of the top candidates to leave St James’ Park is Miguel Almiron, with sources indicating last month that a move for the Paraguayan is likely.
Newcastle is entertaining offers for the 30-year-old and searching for his replacement. A new right winger is a priority, and they have recently shown interest in Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.
Olise would be a significant upgrade over Almiron, who has one club interested in signing him.
Al-Shabab Awaiting Miguel Almiron’s Approval
According to Ben Jacobs of Give Me Sport, Al-Shabab’s summer transfer plans involve waiting for Miguel Almiron to signal his willingness to join them.
The Riyadh-based club had agreed to pay £25 million for Almiron in the January transfer window, but the Newcastle winger declined the move to Saudi Arabia at that time.
However, Give Me Sport reports that Al-Shabab remains interested in securing Almiron’s transfer this summer if he indicates his openness to the move.
A move to Saudi Arabia might not appeal to Almiron
The decision rests with Almiron. While Newcastle is open to his departure, the player must agree to the move. Almiron has two years left on his contract after signing an extension in February 2023.
If Newcastle continues to pursue a new winger, Almiron might realize his time at the club is limited. The arrival of a high-profile player like Michael Olise could push Almiron to consider finding a new club, as he would likely not be a regular starter.
Even if Almiron decides to leave, it does not mean he will necessarily want to join a Saudi Arabian club. Besides financial benefits, there are understandable reasons why some players may not want to play there.
Nevertheless, if Almiron changes his mind and opts for a move to Saudi Arabia, Al-Shabab appears ready to finalize the deal.
