“Rangers’ Ben Johnson Transfer Deemed ‘Impossible’ Amid Galatasaray Development”

A Turkish source reported on June 13 that Rangers are interested in signing the 24-year-old, who will become a free agent at the end of the month, but cannot meet his high salary demands.

Galatasaray have now joined the pursuit of Johnson, with head coach Okan Buruk impressed by his versatility. They are willing to offer him an annual salary of Β£1.7 million plus a signing-on fee.

Even so, Johnson likely would have been used in his natural full-back role at Rangers, especially with veteran James Tavernier rumored to be leaving Ibrox this summer.Breaking: Rangers Transfer Becomes Impossible as Galatasaray Join Them in Competition...Read more

Due to his versatility, Johnson can be compared to Dujon Sterling, a fan favorite at Ibrox after a breakout season under Clement.

Throughout the 2023/24 campaign, Johnson played various positions under David Moyes, from right-back to left-wing, showcasing his potential to be an exciting signing this transfer window.

Selling the 125-goal star could enable the Gers to cover Johnson’s wages, but this strategy is highly risky, especially without a confirmed agreement with the current West Ham player.

At present, it appears that Rangers are poised to miss out on yet another transfer target, having already withdrawn from signing Sofia Levski’s Jose Cordoba.
