“Connor Barron Set for Rangers Talks and Medical Ahead of Move from Aberdeen”

Derek Ferguson is “very impressed” with Connor Barron and believes the midfielder will thrive if he signs for Rangers this summer. According to the Scottish Sun (12 June), the Light Blues are leading the race to sign the Scottish midfielder, who is currently on holiday in Portugal but could return for a medical. Barron is reportedly willing to overlook interest from England and Italy to join Philippe Clement’s rebuild at Ibrox.

Ferguson independently confirmed hearing the same information and believes Barron will soon be “flying back” to Glasgow. He exclusively told Ibrox News, “I heard that about an hour ago. I’d have got in trouble if I’d have brought it up. Yep, the wee fella’s a good player, definitely is in that midfield role.BREAKING NEWS:"Derek Ferguson Very Impressed With Player Joining Glasgow This Summer...Read more

“He’s not going to cost us anything as well, his contract’s up. I think he’s over in Portugal at the minute on holiday so I think he’s going to be flying back.

If there’s a deal to be done he’s a good player, very impressed with him, he was in the running with the boys for the young player of the year.

“So yes, he’s not going to cost us anything, we can improve him. I think he’ll be better in a dominant Rangers side.”

Clement has already added two defenders to his squad and brought winger Oscar Cortes back. Signing Barron would be a major step towards addressing the midfield deficiencies after the departures of Ryan Jack and John Lundstram. The Belgian manager now sees Mohamed Diomande and possibly Dujon Sterling as his top options, unless Nico Raskin can bounce back from a significant decline in his first full season at Ibrox.

A deal for Scotland Under-21 international Barron isn’t finalized yet, but prospects appear good given the reports and independent circulation of the information.
