Reversing his fortunes, 75-year-old Fijian prime minister Sitiveni Rabuka won a bronze medal in the shot put on Wednesday at the Oceania athletics championships. Rabuka played rugby union for his country and competed for Fiji in the decathlon, shot put, discus, and hammer events in the 1974 Commonwealth Games.

With a throw of 7.09 meters, the leader of the Peoples Alliance party came in second place in the over-65 age group at the Oceania Championships in Suva, Fiji, behind two Australians. “Even at 75, I hope to inspire the younger generation to develop a habit of keeping fit and staying healthy,” Rabuka said.
