“Ashley Young Commits to Everton: Former Manchester United and Inter Milan Star Accepts Toffees’ Offer Following ‘Breakthrough’ in Contract Negotiations”
Ashley Young has informed Everton that he will accept their offer of a one-year contract extension, sources revealed to Football Insider.
The 38-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of next month, but he is now set to stay at Goodison Park. Everton’s manager, Sean Dyche, values Young’s experience and versatility and has offered him a one-year extension. An agreement has been reached in principle, and he is expected to sign soon.
Young, who can play as a full-back or winger on either side, made 31 Premier League appearances during the 2023/24 season, starting 27 times.
With a vast amount of experience in the English top flight, Young has previously played for Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Watford, accumulating 453 Premier League appearances.
Everton’s financial challenges, marked by two points deductions this season for separate violations of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), combined with ongoing uncertainty about a potential takeover by Miami-based firm 777 Partners, are likely to restrict their spending in the upcoming summer transfer window. Consequently, they are anticipated to prioritize free transfers, loans, and low-cost deals once more this summer.
