A video depicting Rangers ultras allegedly assaulting a Celtic pub in Glasgow has sparked online ridicule after gaining traction on social media platforms.
The footage, originally shared on the ‘Casual Ultra Official’ page on X (formerly Twitter), showcases a group of men dressed entirely in black heading towards the Tall Cranes Bar on Craigton Road in Govan during Friday evening.
As the group charges down the road, shouts can be heard amidst a backdrop of police presence outside the pub. Some individuals can be seen energetically moving back and forth while shouting “let’s go then” before the video concludes, according to the Daily Record.
The video was accompanied by the caption ‘Union Bears attacked the Bhoys Celtic pub earlier tonight’, sparking over 1,200 comments, with many criticizing the wording. One commenter quipped, “Wow, I’ve never witnessed such violent scenes.” Another remarked, “Seems like they were just shouting outside a pub while police were present.” A third suggested, “Perhaps you should rethink your definition of ‘attacked’.” This incident occurred ahead of the Scottish Cup final showdown between the Old Firm rivals, scheduled for 3pm at Hampden Park.
With tensions high, police have been vigilant throughout Glasgow, as this match marks the culmination of Scotland’s domestic football season.
Security measures are in place, starting at Glasgow Central Station, where opposing fans are directed to queue separately for trains to Hampden Park in the city’s southside. Celtic supporters are advised to use King’s Park Station, while Rangers fans are directed to Mount Florida, ensuring segregation between rival factions.
Approximately 25,000 Hoops supporters gathered in the Glasgow Cross area last Saturday to celebrate their team’s league title victory. The festivities included fireworks and flares, resulting in damaged bus shelters and injuries to several police officers.
A Police Scotland spokesperson stated, “We have implemented a suitable policing plan to ensure public safety and reduce any community disruption. We are working closely with various partners, including Glasgow City Council and both football clubs.”
