“Kyogo Unveils Celtic’s Controversial 2024/25 Home Kit in Leaked Photos: Fans React to Adidas ‘Pyjama Set'”
Celtic’s green and white hooped shirt is one of the most iconic in football. However, updating such a classic design is challenging. Unsurprisingly, the latest leaked shirt has divided fans once again.
Last year’s design, featuring black trim and ‘snakeskin’ detailing inspired by the famous stained glass window at the stadium’s entrance, sparked controversy.
A year later, it’s now a title-winning kit, though the socks were altered midway through the season. This association with success has softened the initial criticism of its design.
There have also been alternate kits and special editions, giving designers more freedom beyond the iconic green and white Hoops.
One of the few universally praised shirts was the special edition 120-year anniversary top, featuring a white-out manufacturer’s logo and badge.
However, this year’s home release has again disappointed many fans.
For such a cherished design, it’s received considerable criticism—assuming the kit modeled by Kyogo Furuhashi is authentic. Images of the new tops have circulated for weeks, but now the leaks seem credible with the Japanese star pictured in the new gear.
While some fans appreciate the change from last year’s controversial top, others have compared the new design to pajamas. One fan commented, “Adidas can eff off with that junk. How about a simple Hoops top with no jazz, just the beautiful uninterrupted Hoops like since 1888. And those socks are embarrassing.”
Another said, “Honestly Adidas makes the worst kits. It’s better than last season, but that wouldn’t be hard.”
A third fan added, “Much nicer than the current monstrosity. I like it.”
A fourth remarked, “A million times better than the horrendous current version but still a bit meh for me. But I’m a 56-year-old codger and it’s not aimed at me.”
The new kit was promoted as being inspired by Adidas’ ‘Teamgeist’ design from 2006, featuring rising curved flashes on either side of the front panel based on that template.
Additionally, it includes a Celtic pattern along the collar.
However, not all fans are impressed or satisfied, despite the removal of the previous patterned hoop effect.
