JUST IN: Cody Fueger joining Kentucky Basketball coaching staff, per report

Fueger will join Mark Pope in Lexington.
We have movement regarding Mark Pope’s first coaching staff with the Kentucky Wildcats.
According to KSR’s Matt Jones, Cody Fueger is following Pope to Kentucky after previously working as an assistant coach for the BYU Cougars from 2019-24.
Fueger is the first confirmed hire for Pope’s staff.
Fueger has coached alongside Pope dating back to 2015 when the latter was the head coach at Utah Valley. The two coached there until 2019 when Pope was hired as BYU’s head coach, and Fueger has been in Provo ever since.
Fueger was regarded as one of the driving forces behind BYU’s offense this past season, as the Cougars ranked 14th in KenPom offensive efficiency. He’s also a big analytics guru, something Pope stressed that he wants Kentucky to embrace.
Fueger was tabbed one of the most impactful mid-major assistant coaches in Division I men’s basketball by Silver Waves Media for two consecutive years (2022-23) when BYU was still playing in the WAC before moving to the Big 12 this past season.
Fueger previously worked as the director of basketball operations at BYU, Utah State, UC Riverside, and Louisiana Tech. His first coaching job was as a video coordinator and student assistant at Utah from 2002-07.
Here’s a timeline of Fueger’s coaching jobs.
